Western Oregon University Retention Committee
As a member of the Western Oregon University Retention Committee, I collaborated with the approximately thirty other staff members from all parts of the WOU community to develop new processes and make amendments to existing processes to further enhance student success, services, and retention. These discussions involved representatives from Admissions, Academic Advising, Financial Aid, Student Affairs, Registrar, Business, Teaching Research, Trio, and other offices throughout campus. Several existing processes have been adjusted and new processes have been created.
For example, in the past, students were not receiving any kind of reminder regarding drop dates for classes. As a result, students were missing the last day to drop or withdraw from a class. This created a higher than needed failure rate. To mitigate the number of failed courses, the student success specials now sends out emails reminding students when the last day to drop is and other important deadlines.
